Summary of the Viking Raids in Ireland

Synopsis of the Viking Raids in Ireland Covering things of individual, social or efficient incentive in stores was not just elite to the Viking time, for sure accumulates have been discovered going back to the tracker gatherer period during the Mesolithic and Paleoindian era. [1] By investigating Viking accumulates it is conceivable to look into the wide running handle of the Viking economy and into the printing procedure and silver metallurgy of the world at that point. Silver was utilized as the chief methods for trade all through the Viking scene . Silver accumulates in Ireland are significant proof for exchange, status and way of life of the Vikings and the Irish, and the relationship the two social orders had with each other because of the numerous finds. So as to completely comprehend the suggestions the Viking settlement had on Ireland and the ensuing relationship which was worked between the two networks; a short outline of occasions prompting the internment of crowds in Ireland is required to draw any potentia l connections between the two. Anyway it is enticing and in some cases rash to expect a connection between the testimony of specific crowds with explicit recorded occasions as some may have been kept for absolutely neighborhood or family reasons. What is sure is that a dominant part of crowds were covered for safety's sake, which is demonstrated by the way that most of coin stores discovered agreed with the annihilation of the Vikings at Tara in 980AD. Gold crowds found in Hare Island and silver crowds found in Lough Ree (which a Viking armada from Limerick overwhelmed during the 920s and 930s) likewise show an association between control of land by Vikings and the resulting internment of hoards.â [2]â All things considered every single conceivable condition must be inquired about so as to reach a determination or if nothing else a scope of potential outcomes concerning the reason for a particular crowd. This article will focus on contextual investigations of explicit accumulates after a concise outline of Viking settlement in Ireland. Part I: Brief Summary of Viking attacks and resulting occupation in Ireland The main recorded Viking attack in Ireland occurred in 795 AD in Rathlin. From that point Viking assaults proceeded as costal attacking. After a progression of attacks in the north the Vikings moved westbound where there were various religious communities in 807AD, of which some were struck. Just because chronicles start to report savagery (albeit no fights) between the Vikings and the Irish. After a break there started assaults indeed by the Vikings on the south shore of Ireland in 821AD alongside further attacks in the north-east in 823AD. From 825AD the records report extreme assaults along the east bank of Ireland on places of worship and neighborhood costal realms. There was additionally noteworthy commitment with neighborhood Irish lords and with this the primary Viking Age in Ireland had begun.â [3]â In 832AD a Viking armada by and by attacked Irelands northern and eastern coasts. During the 830s assaults, the Vikings started to drive further into Ireland. In 838AD a little Viking armada entered the waterway Liffey. The Vikings set up a base there called a Longphort which in the end became Dublin. Dublin turned into the most significant and wealthiest focus in Viking Ireland. It is no fortuitous event that most of silver crowds were found in the Dublin zone which had a riches unparalleled in the west of Ireland and to be sure most of the Viking world. [4] Silver which was utilized all through the Viking scene as the principle material of trade has been found in enormous amounts in Ireland, over a hundred and thirty silver stores to be exact. A hundred and twenty of these were found in Dublin dating from the ninth until the eleventh century. The Vikings had the option to diverge into various zones in the nation by cruising through the stream Liffey. The Vikings at that point started to construct exchanging focuses that formed into towns and urban communities around the Irish coast from the center of the ninth century. It was in these spots that the main coins in Ireland were printed just as exchanging products and slaves. Financial connections were set up with the more extensive Viking world for instance the town of Jorvik (York) in England, across Europe and the Near East. After 840AD, Vikings had a few bases in vital areas all through Ireland. In 902 the Vikings were incidentally removed from Dublin because of an Irish partnership, anyway they before long returned. The Viking leaders of Dublin got associated with the political clashes between Irish realms which arrived at its apex when in 1014 the Vikings of Dublin aligned with Leinster in their fight for matchless quality against Munster. The Vikings and Leinstermen w ere vanquished in the Battle of Clontarf which is viewed as the finish of Viking power in Ireland. Anyway Vikings despite everything assumed a functioning job in Irish life until the Anglo Norman intrusion of 1169.â [5]â The most punctual attacks which happened up to the second decade of the ninth century are said to have been attempted from the Vikings from south-west Norway. The more fierce assaults which happened in 821AD and later were led by a bigger and increasingly sorted out power. There would have been strategic issues bringing huge armadas from Norway and along these lines a hypothesis is that the trespassers originated from close by, to be specific the Viking settlements in the Northern and Western Isles of Scotland. [6] These huge scope attacks prompted the control of the Irish eastâ midlands. Full term occupation in Ireland can for the most part said have started with exploratory attacks, at that point substantial looting and slaving so as to break the opposition of the Irish populace and afterward at long last occupation and the foundation of a territorial realm. Vikings in Ireland embraced an alternate methodology of colonizing Ireland to be specific financially. From the mid ninth century Vikings turned out to be engaged with legislative issues by favoring Irish rulers against other Irish rulers. In the early many years of tenth century, Vikings acknowledged they couldn't vanquish through power and began establishing exchange focuses rather, for example, the previously mentioned Dublin which got significant for Irish ocean issues and business focal point of universal significance. The attacks and ensuing settlements by Vikings in the east of Ireland were especially serious because of the Viking Kings of Scotland in the ninth century having recently practiced authority over the Vikings and their settlements in Ireland (however not over all as chronicles report exercises of Viking undertakings without any responsibilities to Scottish Viking sovereignty). While the Norwegian attacks of the north and the west Ireland were led by little, versatile Viking gatherings, by 830AD Viking looters comprised of huge armadas of boats which prompted changeless bases being set up on the coasts by 840AD. Dublin was to be the most critical of these settlements long haul. Section II: The discussions encompassing Viking stores in Ireland Viking accumulates in Ireland can be characterized in three classifications, coinless crowds, blended stores and coin accumulates. Utilizing silver in type of coinage didn't occur until the late Anglo-Saxon economy of the Viking Age thus the value of silver was estimated in weight and subsequently was satisfactory in different structures which a few crowds speak to by including a blend of cut up pieces of ingots or potentially trimmings and later on, coins. [7] Silver began showing up in Ireland from 850AD as coins and ingots which connects with the start of Viking settlement in Ireland. Single Viking age silver finds in Ireland likewise show up which brings up the issue of what the motivation behind covering silver crowds was. The danger of Viking assaults would be adequate for the entombment of crowds so as to secure the riches which could be later, however was not, recovered. This is a conceivable clarification anyway there are other potential reasons why crowds were covered and afterward not recuperated. One hypothesis is that agnostics in the Viking Age accepted that the perished would require wealth in the great beyond which were the fortunes he had covered while stillâ alive. Anyway this story was composed long after the Christianisation of Scandinavia thus it in questionable about its exactness. Another conceivable purpose behind covering accumulates was so as to secure silver for the most part (without explicit danger of attack) by pioneers so they could in time reward their adherents with silver. This showcase of riches and influence could likewise have le ad to crowds of silver being covered so as to dispose of them from flow, making an idea for others.â [8]â Another discussion is who covered which accumulates. Crowds don't appear to totally correspond with the example of Norse settlement, in spite of the fact that there are various finds close to Dublin. More accumulates are found in regions constrained by autonomous Irish Kings than in zones constrained by Vikings. [9] All this data brings up the issue of what use stores had for the Irish and Vikings. The investigation of dispersion of crowds gives us that a significant number of them where in local possession when covered. Anyway it is additionally conceivable that the crowds were given to the Irish by Vikings for political reasons, or were plundered things. Numerous different accumulates then again speak to Viking riches. By end of thousand years Viking stores contained seldom anything other than coins.â [10]â Section III: Coinless crowds For the most part coinless crowds comprise of a scope of trimmings and additionally ingots and hack silver. Altogether there are to date fifty-one coinless crowds of early Viking Age date . Coinless crowds can be separated into three sub-bunches based on their structure and structure. Breaking down crowds along these lines empowers an increasingly explicit investigation into their proposed reason and starting point. One kind of Viking age coinless crowd contains neither hack silver nor ingots and is made only out of complete decorations. The majority of these trimmings are of Hiberno Scandinavian sort and shift in their style from four models. These kinds of crowds record of about a large portion of the absolute number of coinless hoards.â [11]â Half of all Viking ag

Reflective Journal on Team Building and Leadership

Question: Discuss about theReflective Journal on Team Building and Leadership. Answer: Introduction Team building is a complex and time consuming. Leader in an organization plays a very important role as the management of the organization and the entire team is the responsibility of a team leader. This journal helps in reflecting the learning and relates the theories of leadership and team building so that the leader can apply it on their self. The aim of this essay is to discuss the role of leaders in an organization and the theories related to team building and leadership. The journal expresses the personal viewpoint of the author as to what type of manager or a leader that person is and what it aims to be in next five years. It addresses the personal viewpoint and the role of a manger or leader in the organization. Reflecting on the role played in the past helps in understanding the inner strengths and weaknesses and improves the communication skills and performance. This paper will reflect the role of the manager or a leader that I played in an organization. It will also reflec t on the skills that I used to build a team. It helps the person reflect from the experiences so that it can be improved in future. A person learns from its experiences. Body Leadership is a skill that an individual possesses to lead an entire team and guide them for their work to achieve the goals and targets of the organization. In a workplace, the role of the leader is to manage the employees and coordinate the work between the management team and individuals working in an organization (Daft, 2014). I was a team leader in a company named ABC private limited, which is a marketing and sales company in Australia. I had joined the company in the year 2012 as a marketing and sales person and now I hold a position of a team leader. Our team consists of eight members where each member has a role to play. The role that I play is that of handling the team, motivate them, guide them and evaluate whether the team is exhibiting good performance and is able to fulfill the organizational objectives. From the experiences, I have learned that the most important role of a leader in an organization is to help the employees improve productivity and performance of the org anization. The success of the team lies in the hands of a leader. It is hence very essential for a leader in an organization to be efficient so that he or she is able to effectively manage the team. While handling the team in marketing and sales company I learned various things that helped me develop my professional skill. According to Dyer Dyer, (2013) a leader is important at all stages of management. At lower levels, the role of a leader is to execute the plans laid by the top managers and at top level, the role of a leader is to coordinate the activities. A leader is a representative of the organization or a team. His role is to put forth the queries faced by the team to the managers and effectively solve them so that the productivity of the organization is not hampered. A leader attends the meetings, conferences on then behalf of his team and represents them in various functions and events. I have represented my team in various occasions. From the experience, I learned that it is necessary to represent the team in a positive way so that the managers are able to notice the hard work that the members put in. The role of a leader is also to coordinate the organizational goals to personal goals. The efforts of employees are integrated to accomplish the objectives of the organization (Goethals et al., 2014). From the experiences, I learned that the main role of a leader is to help the organization increase its productivity and performance by properly managing the entire team and its members. For the management of the entire team a leader is required to have various traits and skills. The most important skill for a leader in an organization is that of effective communication (Schoemaker et al., 2013). A leader is required to effectively communicate the strategies, goals and plans to its team members and managers. Communication also helps in solving the problems that the members face by properly communicating the queries to the person concerned. The leader should also have skills of motivating and inspiring its team members. This is one of the most important skills that a leader should posses. The team members should be motivated to work hard towards achievement of goals of the organization. A leader is the one that creates vision for the future and sets a path for the employees. A leader is also required to be a good decision maker in the organization. A problem can arise anytime and at any situation in an organization. Hence, it is essential for the leader to have skill to solve the problem effectively. A leader should also have a skill to make important decisions and think strategically. A leader is honest and transparent in its work that is able to display high integrity. A leader is also the one who is enthusiastic and energetic in their work (Tyssen et al., 2014). The main aim of a leader should be to build a star team and not a team of stars. According to Du et al., (2013), every individual has different professional skills and intelligence in an organization. Hence, it is the duty of a leader in an organization to acknowledge the field of expertise and specialization of each individual in a team and then divide the work accordingly. The main tool that led my team to achieve success was diversification of the work within the team on the basis of specialization. The talent and skill of each individual in the team was acknowledged and understood by the leader and the work of marketing and sales was divided accordingly. The members expert in the field of sales was given the job of handling sales operations while the ones who were effective in marketing operations were allotted that job. This strategy helped to complete the work efficiently and in short period. Due to specialization of the work, the experts were also innovative and creative in th eir operations. Hence, the organizational goals and objectives were achieved easily without much difficulty. Different organizations have different types of leaders. As opined by Johansen, (2012), there are five types of leadership styles. First, one is laissez-faire leadership style where the leader has no direct control over the team members and does not provide regular feedback for the supervision. Under the laissez-faire leadership style the team members are highly trained and professionally skilful who require very less supervision. Laissez-faire leadership style is actually a system where actually, no leader is required and the team requires no control (Goleman et al., 2013). The second type of leadership style is autocratic leadership styles where the managers make the decision without the assistance of others. Managers acts as leaders in autocratic leadership style. It is effective for the employees who require close supervision to the work. The third type of leadership style is participative leadership style where the leader plays an essential role in the supervision and management of team. Participative leadership style is also known as democratic leadership style. The leaders understand the problems of the employees and work in coordination with them. The leader and employee together work to achieve the goals and targets of the organization. Employees are also a part of decision-making process and hence are motivated to do the work (Aga et al., 2016). Another type of leadership style is transactional leadership where the leaders are given certain tasks and are judged based on performance. They are provided rewards or punishment based on their performance. Employees follow the directions of the leaders and the employees and leader together set the goals that they are to achieve. The last type of leadership style is transformational leadership style where the leaders depend on high communication skills to meet the goals. The main role of a leader is to motivate employees to enhance the productivity of the organization (Avolio Yammarino, 2013). In ABC private limited company my operations was categorized under transformational leadership style as the main role that I played as a leader was that is motivating employees and guiding them to achieve the goals, targets and enhance the productivity of the organization. The job was a target-based job where the employees are required to achieve hundred sales per month. This is the reason why transformational leadership style is preferred so that the employees are motivated to fulfill their target. The employees are also an important part of the organization and are included in decision-making process. Hence, at various times the leadership style is also categorized under democratic leadership style. From the experiences, it is understood that the autocratic or authoritative leadership style discourages production and makes the operations more complex. Hence, it is feasible and viable to follow transformation and participative leadership style. While working as a leader in ABC private limited in Australia I had faced various problems. The main problem was that of handling the team and the operations in the organization. From the experiences, I learned that a leader should be efficient in handling any situation and solve the problems without hampering the interest of any one. Reflection of the experiences helps in rectify the issues and mistakes committed in past. There were few mistakes that I had done while working as a leader. The first mistake was building too friendly nature with the team members. Because of this, the team members did not value my order. This led the productivity to decline. Realizing the mistake I became authoritative in my operation that again helped is restoring the lost productivity. The second issue was lack of motivation. The team members were not motivated. This issue was to resolve soon which was resolved by hiring a motivational speaker who could motivate workers to work hard. Due to conflictin g schedules and workloads, the team members were not being able to delegate the task on time. This hampered the productivity of the organization. Hence, the main issue was to solve the problem as soon as possible. This was solved by strategically thinking and formulating plan that could solve the issue effectively. The skills and capabilities learned from the experiences will help in managing the team more effectively in future. Upon reflection, it reflects that I need to be more enthusiastic and enhance my communication skills in order to improve my leadership skills. Concentration on these two skills is likely to promote my position from a leader to a manager. Communication plays an essential role and is an important tool where the success of the business lies. For effective team building coordination of employees and team members is very much essential. Conclusion Hence, upon reflection it can be concluded that the role that I have of a leader in marketing and sales company helps in learn a lot from my experiences. It has helped me learn that there are various leadership skills and traits that are essential to effectively manage the operations and the work. It depends on the leader to exhibit it skills in order to manage the team effectively. The team leader is responsible for managing the entire team. Team building depends on the team leader. It is essential for the leader to build a star team and not star of team members. Choosing one leadership style to handle the operations is essential for effective management of the organization. Upon reflection, I learned that following transformational and democratic leadership in marketing and sales company would help in achievement of organizational goals and targets. References Aga, D. Answer: Introduction Integrated Marketing Communications is the creation of a promotion that maximizes the influence on consumers with less cost by combining all the tools and sources of marketing communication from within an organization (Percy, 2014). The marketing mix consists of the following components: advertising, public relations, direct marketing, sales promotion and personal selling. There are seven levels of integration which include horizontal integration, vertical objectives integration, marketing mix integration, communication mix integration, creative design integration, internal/external integration and lastly, financial integration. This paper will discuss the utilization of IMC in two Australian based organizations: Cadbury Dairy Milk Company and Coca Cola Company. It will also discuss the significant role played by IMC in the overall marketing and business strategy. Analysis of Coca-Cola Amatil IMC Coca Cola Amatil is one of the five major Coca-Cola bottlers globally. It is located in six countries namely Australia, Indonesia, New Zealand, Fiji, Papua Guinea and Samoa. The headquarters of Coca-Cola Amatil is found in Coca-Cola place North Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Coca-Cola Amatil uses mass media methodology as its integrated component which involves television advertising, banner advertisements and print media. This method used a marketing mix of advertising web based interactive, direct marketing, sales promotion and social media marketing. Coca-Cola Amatil advertising has been one of the most productive advertising in history. The different advertisement campaigns used by the company have had great impact on the society and culture (Wilkin, 2009). The companys bottle designs and logo are instantly recognizable globally and are essential to its brand image and recognition in the market. Their aggressive advertising campaigns have resulted to their ranking as the leading soft drink globally. Coca-Cola Amatil has multiple direct marketing efforts. The operated devices include partnerships with vendor companies for uniqueness. For instance, movie theatres and restaurants selling Coke product s only, doing away with any direct competition. The company also sponsors sporting events such as baseball events, once more selling only their products to attendant consumers. Text messages are also sent by mobile marketing vendors in an effort to customize promotions. Viral marketing endeavors are greatly dependant on communication by word of mouth from the brand loyalist (Wilkin, 2009). The industry benchmarks comprise social media and web based marketing campaigns. The companys fan number is more than 86 million across social media channels that the brand engages in. Direct engagement and crowd-sourced content are trademarks of Coca-Cola Amatil social media marketing (Shively, 2014). Web based interactive marketing is centered on design and functionality, depending on posters, video and public relations. The companys sales promotion focuses on two strategies: retail and food service. Retail efforts are aimed toward company partnerships, point-of-sale and direct store delivery. Coke products are emphasized by food service activities through menu optimization, specialty beverages and food pairings. Analysis of Meat Livestock Australia IMC Meat Live stock Australia (MLA) is a producer-owned organization which promotes research and development for the Australian red meat and livestock industry. It also promotes beef, goat and lamb in both Australia and global markets. The marketing approach of Meat Live stock Australia focuses on two different areas: domestic and international. Domestically, the companys marketing activities are centered on the consumer. Meat Livestock Australia invests in areas where the demand is high, where it may be impossible for individual companies to carry out the initiative. This may be due to inadequate resources (Domestic marketing, 2016). The company has invested in numerous promotional activities aimed at the consumer to stress the qualities of red meat. For example, the usefulness, value of money and nutritional benefits of red meat. It has also set up a consumer specific website that gives information on Australian red meat which includes nutritional tips, production methods and recipes. The company uses many marketing campaigns to promote its various types of meat which include We love our Lamb, Nothing beats beef and Proper Dinner. International markets are of great significance to the meat and live stock industry. Australia exports meat and live stock to over 100 countries. MLA tries to increase demand for Australian meat in these export markets (International markets, 2017). The company has created several marketing programs to maintain and enhance demand and brand recognition. These marketing programs and activities include customized marketing, personalized activities and programs to each major export market and distribution channels, marketing access activities through MLA regional offices and attendance international shows. In addition, MLA is in charge of the Collaborative Marketing Program which aims at helping brand owners to develop customer loyalty and maintain brand growth through investment that brings value for both the brand and the industry (Collaborative Marketing Program. (2017). Significance of Integrated Marketing Communications Integrated Marketing Communications offers a wide range of benefits to all organizational levels (Percy, 2014). First focuses communication around customers and assists them in moving through the different buying stages. Also, it leads to high profits by enhancing effectiveness. An integrated message at its most basic level has more influence than multiple incoherent messages. Additionally, IMC increases the consistency of messages and is hence more reliable. This minimizes any risks in the buyers mind which as a result helps in dictating the results of comparing brands. Lastly, IMC reduces duplication in areas such as graphics thus saving finances since they can be shared between different areas. Conclusion The application IMC in Coca-Cola Amatil and Meat Livestock Australia has greatly helped the two companies to maximize influence on customers at a minimal cost. Coca-Cola Amatil uses mass media methodology as its integrated component which involves television advertising, banner advertisements and print media. On the other hand, Meat Live stock Australia uses a marketing approach that focuses on two different areas: domestic and international. IMC plays a significant role in the overall marketing and business strategy by focusing communication around customers and leading to increase in profits. References Percy, L. (2014).
